Bible verses for discouragementBible Verses for the Discouraged Christian Entrepreneur

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

God is talking to Joshua after he takes up leadership when Moses dies.  He mentions three times to be strong and take courage.  I think that is an important statement if God repeats it, don’t you?  When you are discouraged know that God is with you.  If you think you are strong and courageous, you will have the attititude to overcome anything.  It is all about shifting your mind from your circumstances to who you are in Christ!

(Go to Joshua 1 and see what God tells Josh.)

Psalm 27:13-14 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

It is so frustrating when we get discouraged.  We feel like things are not moving fast enough.  We just want to get through our circumstances.  I understand that too well.  Yet, we must learn to wait on God.  We need to discover what we are supposed to learn.

We can only take action on the things that we control.  The rest of the things we must release to God in prayer.  He is bigger than us and He can handle them.  We just have to learn the power of release.

(Go to Psalm 27 and read the whole chapter.)

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

When we are discouraged,  focus too much on things that a just bumps in the road.  We are on a long journey and we must keep in mind our destination.  We have a responsibility here on earth to honor God with all we do.  If we get discouraged, we just need to fix out eyes on what God has called us towards.

Philippians 3:14 reminds us not to look back, but to look forward “toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called [us] heavenwards in Christ Jesus.”  If you have an eternal view on life, even when hard times hit, you will know they are only temporary and life will continue after we get through these circumstances.

(Go to 2 Corinthians 4 and start reading in verse 8)
