What does a Christian business leader look like?
We’ve talked a lot about why to run your business with Christian values in our previous articles and even shared the benefits of running your business on Christian values, but it really boils down to one thing. A Christian business leader, the business owner, is a shepherd to everyone in the company.
Stay with me for a moment. The reality of being a leader is that you are leading your group. You lead them mentally through training. You lead them emotionally through encouragement and advancement. You even lead them physically by telling them when to be at work and what to do. But how are you leading them spiritually?

Taking spirituality in the workplace to the next level.
I know some Christian business owners pray for their employees. That is a great start. If that is you, good job on praying for your employees! The question I have is, why not pray with them?
I know some Christian business owners have Bible verses on their emails and social media. Again, that is a good idea, but where are you leading the charge with Bible study in your office?
I know some Christian business owners who play Christian music over their music systems. That is a great thing to do, but when was the last time you invited your workers to have a spontaneous worship session?
Spirituality in the work place
Imagine what would happen if everyone in your office were praying for one another. There would be less drama. There would be increased community. There would be a greater peace throughout your whole organization.
Imagine having a moment of worship and your whole office taking a lunch break to enjoy food and listen…sing… Christian music. Imagine the energy they would have after lunch.
Imagine having a weekly or daily Bible study before work or during lunch. The workers minds would sharpened and God’s word would become rooted in their lives.
Imagine what would happen if every one of your workers had a living relationship with Jesus Christ and listened to Him so intently that your business became truly lead by God.
Spirituality in practice
I don’t want to be ignorant and say that you should stop your work and just pray and read the Bible all day…although sometimes you may need to do something like that to get your business on track.
What I am saying is to make the spiritual things of life an integrated part of your business. You don’t have to do everything at once. Just do what fits your work environment and the culture of your workplace. The least you can do is pray for your employees and invite them to pray with you and for the company.
A word of caution, if you don’t have time or a place to create spirituality in your workplace, something is wrong. You need to get on your knees, make some adjustments and lead your people. As a business owner you are their shepherd and you must lead the way.
