secret weapon for stress for Christian business owners

Business is tough and if you are a Christian business owner, you are still subjected to the same trials and troubles as everyone else.  You just have a secret weapon when those times come.

We have already discussed four different concepts of dealing with stress, worries and problems.

Here are a few of those articles if you missed them:

Today I want to take a change of direction.  Instead of focusing on solutions, strategies, or mindset, I want us to just sit back and let God be God.  “Be still and know that I am God.” (Ps 40:10)  We have to take moments in life where we step away from the busyness and focus on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Let’s be honest; we all feel depressed sometimes even if we are a Christian.  Our business doesn’t grow like we think it should grow.  Our employees don’t act like they should.  Our life didn’t turn out the way we think it should.  Even David, ‘a man after God’s own heart,’ had moments of depression.  Yet, in the middle of running for his life, fighting wars and being betrayed, he still took time to praise God.

I usually turn to the Psalms when I get really stressed.  I am amazed at how many times David starts a Psalm with how horrible life is only to end by praising God.  Think about that in your life.  How often, outside of church, do you really just let loose and praise God.  How often do you notice the bird chirping and listen to its song of praise.  How often do you watch a sunset or sunrise and whisper to yourself, “God did that.”

Praise is our secret weapon for anything that life throws at us.  Just look at Paul in the New Testament.  He gets stripped, beaten, put in shackles and thrown in jail.  What does he do?  He starts singing praises.  In the middle or the roughest times of his life, he simply takes time to sing praises to God.

Take time right now and mark your calendar for a time where you can get away from everyone.  Go for a walk, get in a quiet room, light some candles or whatever works for you.  Turn on your favorite praise music whether it be old hymns or new praise.  Turn on music that you can sing to and just let loose.  Let God be praised.

Psalm 37: 3-6  “Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.  Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this; He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”
