There is so much wisdom to be found in the Proverbs.  In today’s section we are reminded to cry out for wisdom.  In Proverbs 1 we find out that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  We should cry out for knowledge and wisdom.

In Proverbs 2, Solomon is pointing out the value of wisdom.  He tells us to look for understanding like we would if we were looking for silver or gold.  He says to seek it out as if the greatest treasure.  He says we will find the knowledge of God if we seek wisdom.  True wisdom comes from God.

Solomon tells us success is in store for the uptight because God protects the way of His faithful ones.  It helps us know right from wrong so we can make the right decisions.  Wisdom enters our heats and knowledge makes our souls pleasant.

One would believe that everything we do will succeed if we have wisdom.  Some can even use this verse to say that God promises success.  Yet, that is not what this verse says.

Too many times, as business owners, we head a direction and expect God to catch up with us and make us a success.  That is backwards.  We are to turn to God in wisdom and knowledge first.  Then, God reveals to us what to do for success.

Look at the pattern in this portion of scripture.  First, you store up God’s commands in your heart.  Then, turn your ear to wisdom and listen for God’s voice.  Follow that by applying your heart to the understanding that you get from God.  That is verse 1 and 2 in a nutshell.

We start by holding on to the commands of God and being obedient to Him.  This is the foundation for everything we do. It is why Christian Business Revolution exists.  We are to seek God first in all we do including our business.  Then, we will succeed.

Life is not perfect. Businesses do not grow in a straight line.  Families do not develop instantly.  God guides us in wisdom through all of these steps.  When we seek His wisdom, understanding and knowledge follow quickly behind.

So, let me ask you.  Do you really seek out wisdom as if it is as valuable as treasure?  Do you cry out to God for insight into your business?  Go to scripture and dig into this chapter.  You will see a contrast between those who walk in wisdom and those who don’t.

He holds success in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. Proverbs 2:7
